New Appointment of National Development Officer

Mr. Thomas Bibby will be joining MOVE on the 5th September 2011 as our new National Development Officer.

• Cosc Review:

Thangam Debbonaire is at present carrying out a review of perpetrator programmes in Ireland commissioned by Cosc. For more information or to contribute, please click here.

 

• MOVE Newsletter:

Is in redevelopment. The new edition will be available at the end of September 2008. Quarterly newsletters planned for 2009 and beyond. All contributions, questions, issues are very welcome from our members. Please contact Brenda, Administrator, for more information.

 

• RESPECT email updates:

As members of RESPECT, MOVE get fortnightly updates containing news, research, links etc. Members wishing to be included in our database for distribution of these, please contact the national office at move@moveireland.ie.

 

• The Probation Service:

Are currently developing a policy for working with clients where domestic violence might be perpetrated or experienced. Check the Probation website for more information at www.probation.ie.

Forthcoming events

 

MOVE Partner Contact Forum:

The MOVE Partner Contact Forum will meet again soon. Dates and venue will be advised shortly.

 

National Practitioner’s Network:

The next meeting of the NPN will be held in Southport, UK, on 30th and 31st October 2008. For further information, please click here. This is an ideal opportunity for all MOVE members to access information, support and networking with a range of other perpetrator programmes and associated women’s support services in the UK, Northern Ireland and Ireland. A number of places are funded by MOVE. Please contact Brenda, Administrator, for further information.

 

CHANGE Training:

CHANGE is one of the recognised programmes run by MOVE Ireland groups. A round of CHANGE training is booked for Mid October with Monica Wilson (co-author) with subsequent rounds in planning for the new year.

 

Áras an Uachtaráin:

President Mary McAleese is to host a forum to highlight the issue of domestic and sexual violence against women and men, including older people in Ireland on 1st October 2008. MOVE is delighted to have received an invitation to attend.

 

AGM:

The MOVE Ireland AGM and training weekend for members will be held on 28th and 29th November 2008. Venue and further details to be advised shortly.

 

Recent events

 

• MOVE Facilitator’s Forum:

Held in Galway on 19th and 20th September 2008. There has been a great response for places at this, the inaugural session of the Forum. Going forward, we hope to hold the forum twice a year and will be "for our practitioners – by our practitioners" to provide information, support and networking to all facilitators. For this first session, we are happy to welcome Dave Moran (co-author of the CHANGE (Scotland) Programme who will provide a piece on a relevant practice issue.
